Computer Barf???

I have been avioding my home computer like it was a pile of cat barf sitting in the middle of the room.

You cat owners know what I mean. You leave it lying there as if it didn't exist. Hoping deep down that someone else would also see it and pick it up. But of course that never happens, becasue they too are hoping someone else will find it and pick it up.

Eventually you cover it up with a paper towel, like it is now somehow disguised, or like it was alive and you wnated to keep it from watching you. Then, after many days, you finally break down and pick it up, only to find it has now attached itself to the carpet. So now you have to actually scub up little pieces of cat food and hair all mixed together.

Soooo I have been happily using my work computer.

Phillis Spector...

Phil Spector....more like Phillis if you ask me.

What hits has this guy had in the last 10 or maybe 20 years? The hit on the gal in his house last year is the only one I can think of.

Pointers....

Here are a few pointers I learned this weekend.

5. If you get a chance to Ska Dance on your buddies new vinyl rug, dooo it, even if it is by yourself.

4. If you are going to drink heavily, start late, and end early. (that's late at night, and early in the morning)

3. If you drink the bar out of Schmidtt's beer, make sure you speak with the owner so you can find out how to ensure a good supply for next time.

2. When things start going wrong for you when you are trying to work on your house, just quit before you end up putting a screw gun to your head.

1. The number one thing learned this weekend was....get yourself a pointer when shopping with your wife. It really makes things easy when trying to point things out. A cane would be a great accessory. I used a flagpole. It worked well, but was almost too long, almost unwieldy.

As my buddy B always says over at Turf's Eye View Learn it, Know it, Live it...................

Geek Credentials....

I made a huge Geek-dom discovery today. While looking through and signing up for catalogs for my classroom, i stumbled upon a site that only true Science dorks and computer nerds can appreciate. ThinkGeek - Stuff for Smart Masses

Go get yourself some Geek-wear. They even have Red Swingline Staplers.

A site that I am sure is after Big Stupid Tommy's heart.

R.I.P. King Leer

Time to say good-bye to a nudie film icon....Russ Meyer has died.

I suggest we all go out and rent "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" and toast to a true artist.

Change is good...

I needed a face lift....maybe it will inspire me to write more often.

I am undecided as to which direction I will head. As the wise Yogi once said, "when you reach a fork in the road, take it."

Air Freshener Body Bags

Have you seen the people driving around with the platic wrappers still attached to their car air fresheners? I have seen about 3 in the last week. And it threw me for a loop...

Until I was putting one in my new truck and noticed that if you read the directions. Yes, that's what I thought, "Directions?" Apparently for the first 1-3 Weeks, you are only supposed to slide the bag down a third of the way on the freshener. Then for weeks 4-6, you slide down another third and for weeks 7-9, you remove the bag.

Who knew, all this time I had been improperly using my "little trees". No wonder they only lasted about a month. Here I thought it was because they only cost $.99! But it was because I was misusing them.

Thank goodness I read those directions, now I won't be throwing away that buck each month, I can stretch it out for 2 more!!

Too bad I think it looks dorky, as if having a pine tree hang from your mirror was cool. The plastic just cheapens it up even more.

Epiphany

I had a revelation last night. It was a combination of things that lead me to my point.

1st - My wife and I had a small disagreement over how to "save" her retirement money. Either in a fixed account or put a portion of it into the market. I need to have more information in order to trust my (my wifes) money with a chance like the market. I realize that they would be long term earners as opposed to a quick buy/sell operation. But that still doesn't ease my mind.

Anyways, as I was reading a new book entitled Opposing Views: Science and Religion, my revelation came to me. The reason I don't take many risks is because of my belief system. Have I taken risks in life? Definitely, but usually when I was under the influence of some wonderful chemical.

Quote from book,"Science climbs the ladder of reason in search for the truth while religion kneels before the alter of faith. The methodology of science includes observation and experimentation while religion embraces divine intervention."

Hence, I need facts to make decisions. The main reason is I have no faith until the facts are before me.

Now hold on, I realize this isn't true for all science oriented or religion oriented people. Just my interpretation of my thought process. Am I stretching things a little? Maybe, but it makes sense to me, so I'm going with it.

Stunt Pilots??

NASA...some of the most intelligent human beings on the planet, and their best idea to retrieve a space capsule is to have stunt pilots from hollywood catch the probe in helicopters?

Then, the explosives don't work and the chute doesn't eject and the capsule crashes into the desert.

We could land a ship on mars, but couldn't figure out how to land a little capsule on earth?

And these people are getting money from our government?
